📋 Description

• Own the reliability and performance of production ClickHouse clusters on Kubernetes or managed ClickHouse services • Design standard architecture and tooling for dozens of multi-node clusters • Manage cluster provisioning, configuration, scaling, upgrades, and migrations as code • Build monitoring and alerting to detect problems before users notice • Own backups and disaster recovery and regularly test restores • Keep clusters secure by default • Plan capacity and control infrastructure costs • Advise developers, DevOps engineers, DBAs, and engineering leadership on ClickHouse, schema design, ingestion, and query performance • Handle routine database requests and automate them • Respond to rare production emergencies, including outside business hours • Lead database root-cause analysis and contribute to postmortems • Maintain documentation and runbooks and share knowledge with the team

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, DBA-level knowledge of ClickHouse from running it in production • Strong SQL, including optimising complex analytical queries and reviewing schema design • Ability to design architecture and automation across dozens of multi-node clusters • Experience running a large fleet of databases; experience with dozens or hundreds of instances is a strong advantage • Production experience maintaining stateful workloads on Kubernetes beyond initial deployment • Production use of a Kubernetes operator to run databases • Experience with version upgrades, backup and restore, and migrating large datasets between clusters or regions with zero or minimal downtime • Strong troubleshooting across queries, schema design, Kubernetes, Linux, storage, and networking • Experience building monitoring and alerting with a modern observability stack • Practical database security experience, including encryption in transit and at rest, access control, and secrets management • Infrastructure as code experience with a mainstream tool • At least one programming or scripting language for automation • Hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with a major provider • Clear written and spoken communication with engineers and leadership • Nice to have: hands-on Kubernetes database-operator source-code work, AI tools for database observability or routine automation, highly regulated-environment background, or Kubernetes/cloud certifications
