📋 Description

• Develop robust software in the e-commerce domain • Implement best practices to improve existing software and participate in developing new features • Maintain the search stack while transitioning from Elasticsearch to Vertex AI Search • Design and build solutions for business users and improved customer experience • Architect and design solutions with the team • Develop high-quality production code for complex, large-scale work • Improve functional and non-functional testing practices • Design solutions for complex system- or domain-wide problems • Participate in architecture proposals and support architectural alignment across the organisation • Respond to production bugs, alerts, and incidents • Investigate and resolve issues impacting multiple teams • Define and improve engineering processes and directives • Review and contribute to internal documentation • Evaluate technology trends, risks, and opportunities • Share knowledge through blog posts, tech talks, and workshops • Implement and maintain REST and RPC APIs using Python • Develop and maintain automation tests • Liaise with internal stakeholders regarding project requirements and progress • Provide rotational after-hours support for critical system issues

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or an Advanced Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience) • 5 to 10 years in a software development role • Experience developing scalable backend systems • Thorough understanding of computer science fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms • Experience writing robust, efficient production code • Proficient in a strongly typed open source language such as Python, Java, Golang, etc. • Experience with RESTful APIs and web services • Experience with SQL database systems • Experience developing in a Linux environment • Strong analytical and critical thinking, using data to inform decisions • Ability to dis-aggregate and structure solutions to ambiguous problems • Solid quantitative skills • Capability to present ideas succinctly, in writing and verbally • Versatility and appetite to learn by doing • Ability to provide after-hours support on a rotational basis when needed
