📋 Description

• Lead architectural decisions for compute engine selection, open-table format implementation, and tiered storage design • Architect a decoupled, interoperable data environment that avoids proprietary vendor lock-in • Design and oversee automated data governance, including PII discovery, row/column-level security, and auditability • Define data pipeline completion standards, coding standards, CI/CD patterns, and technical documentation requirements • Maintain a version-controlled repository of architectural decision records documenting rationale, trade-offs, and long-term implications • Monitor and optimize platform performance and cloud spend while maintaining high query performance and a lean cloud footprint • Conduct code and design reviews for data models and orchestration workflows • Mentor and unblock senior engineering staff • Translate technical debt and architectural roadmaps for C-level executives

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years in data engineering or architecture • Proven experience delivering production-grade Lakehouse environments for organizations with 1,000+ concurrent users • Extensive experience with Databricks Lakehouse and Unity Catalog • Experience with Amazon Redshift or Snowflake • Deep hands-on expertise with Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake, including partitioning optimization and schema evolution • Mastery of dbt Core for complex SQL-based modeling • Proficiency in PySpark or Python for sophisticated data processing • Familiarity with DuckDB • Advanced Apache Airflow experience designing resilient, dependency-aware DAGs in resource-constrained environments • Expert-level knowledge of AWS services such as S3, EC2, and IAM, or equivalent Azure/GCP services • Experience with Apache Polaris or other open-source catalog implementations • Knowledge of DataOps principles and automated data quality testing frameworks • Experience translating technical debt and architectural roadmaps for C-level executives • Experience managing fixed-resource infrastructure versus elastic serverless models • Deep understanding of Kubernetes, including Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, and Secrets management
