• Design and develop socket, high-speed connector, and cable assembly solutions used inside switches, servers, and storage for data communication • Responsible for product design and documentation from market definition through production and release • Work closely with customer and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM to capture VOC and convert to TE design conceptualization and preliminary product specification • Conceive concepts, perform feasibility studies, and run mechanical and thermal simulations • Make engineering evaluations/proposals to customers and create detailed designs including 2D/3D drawings • Perform DFMEA, tolerance and statistical analyses, and build prototype samples for validation • Complete product qualification and finalize product specifications • Provide technical support to Operations teams (Quality and Production) for launch and efficiency improvements • Resolve product-related issues to closure and manage ECN/PCN • Follow LEANPD Project Process and drive development through stage-gate reviews to meet time, quality, and budget milestones • Work with global manufacturing resources, procurement, and suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost objectives • Execute technical documentation including design drawings, engineering and product change notices, and design history files • Interact with customers, vendors, marketing, sales, and other engineering areas during pre-production stages
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience • Generally requires 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering work experience with electrical components, electrical devices, mechanical structure design, manufacturing tooling development (stamping, molding, assembly, plating), or manufacturing process development • Knowledge in socket design, connector design, cable assembly design, material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, product qualification • Expert in 3D CAD applications (Creo preferred); experience in 3D solid modeling, sheet metal, 2-D drawings, PDM link Data Manager; familiarity with Spaceclaim, Solidworks • Proficient in geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T) • Proficient at limit and fit analysis, including statistical tolerance analysis • Proficient user of finite element analysis software (Ansys, Workbench), including elastic and plastic behavior of metals • Proficient in developing and writing design objectives for product specifications • In-depth knowledge in manufacturing processes (machining, molding, stamping, plating, assembly) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) • Fluent in English (both verbal and written) • Ability to work in a global environment and accommodate varying time zones • Advanced problem solver with data analytics and critical thinking skills • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, MS Teams) • Travel: 10% to 25% • Nice to have: Master’s degree in engineering or related field; familiarity with switch and/or server equipment; working knowledge of raw material, industry standards, and product application; proficient use of quality tools (FMEA, 6 sigma, DOE, 8D); knowledge of contact physics, plating systems, copper alloys, high-temp plastics; signal integrity and impedance matching; test methods for electrical connectors; thermal management experience; strong organizational and time management skills; presentation and leadership in technical discussions
