The Athletic’s newsroom of 500+ full-time staff delivers in-depth coverage of hundreds of professional and college teams across more than 47 North American markets and all 20 football clubs in the English Premier League, as well as many Championship clubs. • About the Role: The Athletic is seeking a Sr. CRM Marketing Manager to join our team. In this role, you’ll contribute to the strategy and execution of high-impact programs that engage readers with our journalism, drive action around key sports moments, and promote deeper use of our app and features. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused, results-driven marketer with a strong track record of using CRM to shape user behavior through thoughtful experimentation and optimization.
• 7+ years experience planning, executing, and analyzing marketing automation campaigns, with a strong focus on email and newsletter marketing. • Superior project management and communication skills with the technical skills to translate stakeholder and business needs into actionable items. • Proven experience leading an email/CRM management function. • Extensive experience working with CRM platforms (Iterable, Braze, Sailthru, etc.). • Demonstrated understanding of email marketing best practices and technical infrastructure, including deliverability, hygiene and IP health as well as compliance laws such as CAN-SPAM. • Strong analytical skills; able to create data-driven marketing strategies and campaigns across email and newsletter touchpoints. • Experience with A/B and multivariate testing, including post-campaign analysis. • Proficient with drag-and-drop email builders and basic HTML troubleshooting. • Interest in sports and media is a plus, but is not required. • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
