• Lead and manage accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. • Oversee and support AppFolio Specialists, ensuring accurate property management accounting and timely reconciliations. • Manage and reconcile financial records using AppFolio, QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other accounting platforms as needed. • Prepare and present accurate financial statements, management reports, budgets, and forecasts. • Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and financial integrity. • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal reporting requirements, including tax filings. • Coordinate and manage annual audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring readiness. • Provide strategic financial guidance and actionable insights to leadership and stakeholders. • Communicate financial results, trends, and recommendations clearly to internal teams and external partners. • Stay updated on accounting regulations, industry best practices, and property management software developments. • Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth in a remote environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred. • Proven experience in a senior accounting, financial management, or Controller role. • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. • Hands-on experience with AppFolio highly preferred; QuickBooks Online, Xero, or other accounting platforms a plus. • Experience leading accounting teams or supervising specialists. • Accounting experience in property management or real estate portfolios strongly desired. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment and collaborate with teams and clients. • Previous experience in a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus but not required.
