📋 Description

• Project management: Independently planning, executing and managing accounting and back-office projects • Accounting & Financial Statements: Managing ongoing bookkeeping and preparing monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with HGB (German Commercial Code / German GAAP) • Interim roles: Taking on project responsibilities, e.g., as Interim Team Lead Accounting • Tax & regulatory tasks: Preparing VAT pre-declarations (USt‑Voranmeldungen), OSS filings and supporting tax audits • Optimization & digitization: Identifying and implementing efficient finance processes, automations and appropriate tools • Stakeholder management: Collaborating with tax advisors, CFOs, tax authorities and other relevant interfaces • Project-based client work: Mostly remote, with on-site presence when required

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of experience in financial / accounting (general ledger) accounting — preferably in an SME, a startup or a consulting firm • A degree or vocational training in business, finance, mathematics or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory • Strong knowledge of at least one accounting or ERP system (e.g., DATEV Rechnungswesen, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and experience with modern finance tools (e.g., Spendesk, Pleo, Circula) • Additional certifications (for example, Bilanzbuchhalter / certified balance sheet accountant) are a plus but not required • Good Excel / Google Sheets skills and an independent, structured working style with an eye for optimization opportunities • Experience in process automation and optimization as well as tool implementation • Good communication skills in German (approx. C1) and English (approx. B2) • You enjoy varied project work and are willing to support clients remotely or, depending on the project, to a limited extent on-site
