📋 Description

• Provide leadership, guidance, and coordination of UCS strategies • Lead and support organization-wide strategic initiatives • Provide counsel to senior leadership on scientific and strategic issues • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key scientists and science policy experts • Represent UCS in prominent scientific and policy spaces • Advise senior leadership on opportunities to strengthen UCS’s networks • Contribute to peer-reviewed literature as appropriate • Ensure effective representation of UCS's scientific work in development activities

🎯 Requirements

• Position requires a PhD in a relevant scientific field • Ten or more years of successful comparable and relevant experience • Significant management experience and demonstrated commitment to excellence in the application of science to public policy • Excellent leadership skills and project management experience • Outstanding written and verbal communication ability • Expertise in the scientific and related policy dimensions of global environmental change issues • Ability to engage and effectively communicate with scientists in various disciplines and policymakers • A strong reputation in the scientific community and a distinguished record of policy-relevant research is preferred • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and accessibly under tight deadlines • Experience with media and public outreach is highly desirable
