📋 Description
• Lead the Data Engineering team of 1–2 engineers, owning delivery, quality, and career development. • Own and evolve the layered BigQuery warehouse, dbt transformation layer, and semantic layer defining company metrics. • Own ingestion and orchestration using Airflow and dlt, including the move to serverless CDC. • Ensure reliability, quality, and observability of data pipelines. • Own self-service BI and reporting tools including Tableau, Metabase, and the move to Lightdash/dashboards-as-code. • Establish and maintain data governance covering data quality, lineage, documentation, PII, access controls, and self-service standards. • Drive AI-assisted engineering and production AI data pipelines across the team. • Partner with the Director of Data Engineering & AI, Data & BI, Product, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into a data roadmap. • Write code, review architecture, set technical direction, standards, and roadmap as a hands-on player-coach.
🎯 Requirements
• 5+ years in data engineering or analytics engineering in fast-growing product companies. • Experience designing and evolving cloud data warehouses and pipelines; BigQuery/GCP is a strong plus. • Experience leading and mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on. • Strong SQL skills. • Hands-on expertise with dbt, modern ELT/ingestion such as dlt, and workflow orchestration such as Airflow. • Experience with BI and dashboarding tools including Tableau, Metabase, Lightdash or similar. • Experience building a semantic/metrics layer on top of a warehouse. • Track record establishing data governance covering quality, lineage, documentation, PII, access management, and self-service. • Demonstrable use of AI-assisted engineering and AI in data pipelines, and experience driving adoption across a team. • Excellent communication skills. • Fluent English. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-market, remote-first environment.
