📋 Description

• Work closely with engineers to support new features and services • Build tools to monitor site stability and performance • Help ensure infrastructure reliability and scalability while maintaining platform SLOs • Troubleshoot site issues using Splunk, Prometheus, and OpenTelemetry • Own and operate critical datastores, including Cassandra and MySQL • Automate infrastructure with Python, Puppet, Git, Jenkins, Terraform, and AI tooling • Develop custom tools when off-the-shelf solutions do not work at Yelp’s scale • Contribute upstream to open source projects • Participate in light on-call rotations with geographically distributed SRE teams providing follow-the-sun support • Deploy working code during the first week and take responsibility for projects from day one

🎯 Requirements

• Located in the Republic of Ireland • Familiarity with Linux; Ubuntu is used, but any distribution is acceptable • Command of a modern programming language such as Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or C++ • Exposure to or interest in MySQL and/or Cassandra • Hands-on experience with public cloud platforms; AWS is used, but Azure or GCP are acceptable • Practical background in Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management, such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible • Relevant experience with Linux containerisation and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes • Understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, containerization and workload orchestration, datastores, or streaming technologies • Exposure to monitoring concepts and best practices for performance, reliability, and security • Excellent communication and documentation skills • Eagerness to ask questions, take initiative, and learn every day • For Northern Ireland applicants, a Basic criminal background check via AccessNI is required for employment
