📋 Description

• Prepare shipment documentation and commercial invoices • Retrieve, verify, and centrally store complete documentation from brokers and carriers • Apply approved HTS classifications and country-of-origin determinations across shipment processes and systems • Manage day-to-day customs broker relationships and coordinate clearance • Review broker performance and ensure practices align with the classification framework • Monitor duties within landed shipping costs and identify unexpected duty outcomes • File claims with customs brokers when errors are found • Resolve routine customs queries during clearance • Ensure accurate import and export declarations • Own the duty drawback program, including coordination with Livingstone and preparation and validation of claims • Monitor and maintain compliance of the US import bond • Partner with manufacturers, initially in India, on compliant and duty-efficient export documentation and processes • Identify duty-saving opportunities through relevant free trade agreements • Build trade compliance processes as the jewellery business expands into new duty-liable markets • Escalate complex classification and legal interpretation questions to Legal & Compliance • Establish the operating rhythm for this newly created individual-contributor role

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience in global trade compliance or customs operations, with a track record on US, UK, EU import/export specifically • Extensive US import-export experience is required • Direct experience managing customs broker relationships and shipment documentation at volume • Experience filing duty drawback or tariff reclaim claims • Comfortable working as an individual contributor with real autonomy • Detail-oriented and process-minded • Based in the EU or UK, with flexibility to work across time zones as the company scales globally • Strong stakeholder management skills coordinating external brokers, carriers, manufacturers, and internal Legal, Fulfilment, and Ops teams • Commercial mindset connecting compliance work to cost savings and business impact • Experience with free trade agreements and preferential duty schemes (nice to have) • Experience in jewellery, diamonds, gemstones, or other high-value/luxury goods logistics (nice to have) • Experience with Indian export processes (nice to have) • Background in a fast-scaling, international e-commerce or marketplace business (nice to have) • Application and CV must be submitted in English • The application form asks whether the candidate has 7+ years of trade compliance experience, extensive US import/export experience, UK and/or European import/export experience, US duty-drawback knowledge, duty/customs data analysis experience, and direct customs broker experience
