📋 Description

• Complete patient accounts according to departmental protocols, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements • Perform pre-admission, admission, pre-registration, and registration functions • Verify insurance requirements and inform patients of financial liability before services • Arrange payment options and screen patients for government funding sources • Analyze insurance coverage and benefits and obtain required authorizations • Facilitate payment sources for uninsured patients • Research accident-related liability and determine appropriate payment sources • Admit, register, and pre-register patients using accurate demographic and financial data • Resolve insurance claim rejections and denials • Calculate and collect patient cash payments and reconcile daily cash deposits • Evaluate diagnoses for compliance with the Local Medicare Review Policy • Compile departmental statistics for budgeting and reporting • Explain bills and implement collection actions according to PRMO policies • Assist financially responsible persons with payment arrangements and refer patients for financial counseling • Process third-party sponsorships and examine insurance and sponsorship materials • Inform attending physicians about patient financial hardship • Complete managed care waiver forms for out-of-network patients receiving reduced benefits • Update billing systems, document according to policy, and enter or update referrals • Refer patients to Manufacturer Drug programs when needed • Greet and assist patients and visitors, explain policies, and resolve problems • Gather documentation for inquiries and complaints and assist with departmental coverage • Communicate with insurance carriers regarding clinical information, coverage, and payment issues

🎯 Requirements

• High school education-level knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles • Some postsecondary education preferred • Additional training or working knowledge of related business • Two years of experience working in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office, or billing and collections; OR an associate's degree in a healthcare-related field and one year of experience working with the public; OR a bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with the public • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to analyze data, perform multiple tasks, and work independently • Ability to develop and maintain professional, service-oriented relationships with patients, physicians, co-workers, and supervisors • Ability to understand and comply with policies and procedures • Working knowledge of compliance principles • No degrees, licensures, or certifications required
