• Author original, technically rigorous free-response problems involving real-world circuit design • Develop questions requiring advanced engineering reasoning across analog, digital, power, or RF circuit design • Incorporate realistic design constraints, specifications, trade-offs, and implementation considerations • Apply advanced circuit theory and electrical engineering principles to complex design problems • Develop scenarios involving component selection, circuit architecture, performance requirements, and design optimisation • Evaluate design decisions using realistic technical and production constraints • Write complete expert-level solutions documenting calculations, assumptions, methodology, and engineering reasoning • Produce rigorous, reproducible, independently verifiable reference answers • Test authored problems against multiple frontier language models • Evaluate AI solutions for reasoning errors, design mistakes, calculation failures, and incomplete technical approaches • Refine and validate problems to maintain an appropriately demanding difficulty level
• PhD in Electrical Engineering required • At least 5 years of hands-on professional or industry experience in circuit design • Substantial expertise in analog, digital, power, or RF circuit design • Direct experience developing real hardware designs through implementation, production, or tape-out • Strong command of advanced circuit analysis and design principles • Experience solving complex engineering problems in professional environments • Ability to translate real industry challenges into structured technical questions • Excellent analytical reasoning and technical writing skills • Practical experience designing and delivering real circuits or electronic systems • Hands-on circuit design experience required • Candidates should have experience shipping, releasing, or taping out real designs • Design verification experience alone, including primarily UVM, SystemVerilog, or DV roles, does not meet the requirements • Nice-to-have experience may include semiconductor, electronics, aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, energy, or technology organisations; analog or mixed-signal design; digital or integrated circuit design; power electronics; RF or high-frequency design; tape-out or production release; engineering assessment or technical problem authoring; AI models or structured technical evaluation
