📋 Description

• Make immediate contributions to projects and rapidly build trust with clients • Design and build data pipelines and schemas that hold up as data volume and complexity grow • Lead data architecture and modeling discussions, weigh tradeoffs, and document the reasoning • Balance technology choices pragmatically while delivering high-quality work within deadlines • Generate solutions to technical and non-technical challenges alongside teammates and clients • Lead or initiate retrospectives and feedback conversations with teams and clients • Articulate and document outcomes and drive action items forward • Contribute to team and company culture by modeling 8th Light's Values • Maintain relationships with client technical leaders • Identify, mitigate, and resolve blockers to team progress • Contribute through mentoring, leading workshops, representing 8th Light in the tech community, or supporting hiring

🎯 Requirements

• Typically 6 or more years of data engineering experience • Design and build scalable data pipelines ingesting, transforming, and moving data from EHRs, claims, APIs, and CRMs • Hands-on experience with at least one cloud data platform: Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery • Production SQL, including query optimization and debugging • Python or another language such as Scala or Java for automating data workflows • ETL/ELT principles, data warehousing, and data modeling experience • Experience delivering projects on AWS, Azure, or GCP • Ability to learn unfamiliar tools quickly • Experience shipping high-quality, maintainable software collaboratively and incrementally • Git and CI/CD experience • Ability to communicate data decisions and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders • Mentoring and knowledge-sharing experience • Strongly preferred: healthcare data experience with Epic, HL7, FHIR, or claims • Strongly preferred: CI/CD pipelines, Git, and DevOps workflows • Strongly preferred: Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation • Strongly preferred: real-time and streaming data tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub • Strongly preferred: containerization with Docker and Kubernetes • Strongly preferred: cloud or data platform certifications
