📋 Description

• Own architecture and delivery for modern data platforms end-to-end • Shape client data strategy and design scalable solutions • Lead implementation efforts from design through production • Partner directly with client stakeholders from requirements through executive updates • Mentor internal team members and ensure high-quality delivery • Balance technology choices pragmatically while delivering high-quality work within deadlines • Advise clients on architecture, scalability, and platform evolution, connecting technical decisions to business outcomes • Lead or initiate retrospectives and feedback conversations with teams and clients • Articulate and document outcomes and drive action items forward • Contribute to team and company culture by modeling 8th Light’s Values • Identify, mitigate, and resolve blockers to team progress • Contribute through mentoring, workshops, tech-community representation, or hiring support

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years in software and 7+ years in data engineering • Long-term repeated success delivering data platforms • Clear progression into technical leadership and architectural ownership • Deep expertise in Databricks and modern lakehouse architecture, including Delta Lake and Spark-based processing • Advanced SQL and Python skills for large-scale data pipelines • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, data services, and infrastructure design • Strong data modeling, ETL/ELT patterns, and distributed data processing experience • Production experience with orchestration tools and transformation frameworks • Experience leading technical delivery while remaining hands-on • Client experience in requirements gathering, solution design, and executive communication • Experience working through ambiguity and prioritizing effectively • Experience with healthcare data such as Epic, HL7, FHIR, and claims • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps practices, and infrastructure-as-code tools • Experience mentoring internal team members • Experience actively seeking and receiving feedback • Strongly preferred: platform engineering; real-time and streaming tools such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub; production agentic systems including RAG pipelines and vector search; MLOps; Infrastructure as Code
