• Lead and develop Actuarial Analysts and Consultants through coaching, training, mentoring, and direction • Oversee actuarial analyses and support business decision-making • Ensure projects are completed on time and with high quality • Develop and maintain business relationships with internal and external clients through project development • Recruit and interview prospective employees • Conduct performance appraisals and recommend salary actions, promotions, and terminations • Administer disciplinary procedures in conjunction with management • Recognize employee achievements and counsel employees on performance issues • Review Consultants’ and Analysts’ work and oversee successful project completion • Manage and train Actuarial Consultants and/or Analysts • Manage team time and workload and recommend tradeoffs to leadership • Balance business results with constrained human capital • Provide effective challenge to leadership • Present analyses, recommendations, and pricing strategies to stakeholders • Shape company culture and foster a collaborative, inclusive, psychologically safe environment • Translate enterprise strategy and priorities for team members • Travel as needed for role-related meetings
• BA/BS in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area and 5 years of post bachelor experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on commercial insurance OR graduate degree in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science or related area and 3 years experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines insurance • 3+ years commercial insurance experience • ACAS (Associate in Casualty Actuarial Society) • Strong decision-making, leadership and motivational skills • Solid understanding of the market landscape • Ability to coach, mentor, evaluate and provide training, guidance and constructive feedback to professional staff • 3+ years experience managing teams in a supervisory capacity • Experience performing account-level rating and pricing analyses for complex or high-value commercial insurance opportunities • Experience serving as a client-facing partner, presenting analyses, recommendations, and pricing strategies to internal and external stakeholders • Expert-level problem solving and critical thinking skills • Proven oral and written communication skills, including the ability to give formal presentations • Proven team leadership ability • In-depth knowledge of the Commercial Auto industry and Commercial insurance marketplace • Ability to prioritize work, organize time, and balance multiple projects • Willingness to travel as needed for enterprise, divisional/team, and other in-person meetings • Must have authorization to work indefinitely in the United States • Must not require immigration support or visa sponsorship
