đź“‹ Description

• Perform electrical engineering design for LV, HV, and EHV power systems, emphasizing transmission and distribution substations • Collaborate with engineers and drafters on detailed electrical and physical substation designs • Provide engineering design and construction support for assigned projects • Coordinate project flow and issues among engineering disciplines and project management • Support project management, procurement, and construction throughout project stages • Develop single-line switching and protection diagrams, three-line diagrams, and DC schematics • Create equipment specifications and support equipment procurement, vendor coordination, and equipment reviews • Develop bills of material, cable and conduit schedules, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams • Perform AC/DC system, battery sizing, overvoltage protection, coordination, conduit fill, grounding, and lightning protection calculations and reports • Review substation physical drawings and calculations, including arrangements, clearances, conduits, grounding, and lightning protection • Design underground medium- and high-voltage cabling systems • Coordinate designs with clients, vendors, and subcontractors and attend meetings • Maintain engineering documents and records • Coordinate with purchasing and quality control personnel • Guide designers/drafters and review and approve electrical drawings • Participate in developing less experienced engineers and designers

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Power Engineering • Educational courses in power systems analysis and electrical machinery • Knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards • 2+ years of experience designing transmission-level substations from 13.8 kV to 500 kV • Experience with transmission line protection, substation protection and control systems, and generator, transformer, and bus protection schemes • Experience developing station/substation single-line, protection, control, and SCADA diagrams, including utility and ISO interconnection and operational requirements • Experience with equipment specifications, designs, and layouts, including major equipment, protection, control, SCADA, and low-voltage auxiliary systems • Experience with capacitor banks and distribution feeder protection • Demonstrated experience at all interfaces of transmission-level projects • Experience with SEL, GE, and similar relays • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NESC, OSHA, NERC, RUS, IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and local and federal building codes • Familiarity with substation physical drawings and calculations • Engineer in Training certification preferable, but not required • Ability to execute tasks with adequate supervision • Good written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work effectively in a team setting • Skilled in engineering theories and principles, researching design issues, evaluating alternatives, making recommendations, presenting recommendations, and solving time-sensitive problems • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD 2015 or later, and Microsoft Outlook • Typically 10% travel • Ability to lift or move equipment up to 15 lbs
