• Lead the strategic direction and management of Air Liquide’s trade organization • Create, implement, and drive an innovative global trade compliance program aligned with Group requirements • Deploy, monitor, and improve compliance controls and processes • Ensure trade compliance across countries where Air Liquide operates • Recommend actions to senior leaders to address compliance gaps • Develop, implement, and manage trade compliance policies and procedures for business units and foreign affiliates • Provide training to associates involved in import/export transactions • Guide and direct International Trade Compliance Representatives across business units and foreign affiliates • Develop trade compliance training programs and implement training tracking • Ensure HTS and ECCN classifications are identified and maintained for imports and exports • Conduct business-unit risk assessments and issue recommendations to presidents • Identify technology tools to improve trade compliance and manual processes • Lead management meetings to secure investment for trade compliance projects, including GTM systems and product classification • Issue and manage Customs Powers of Attorney and broker/freight-forwarder SOPs • Manage relationships with customs brokers and freight-forwarding agents • Support regulatory correspondence, including information requests, violations, and penalty notices • Manage the electronic trade compliance recordkeeping platform and ensure records are audit-ready • Provide monthly project-status reports to the Group International Trade Compliance Officer • Issue quarterly import/export data reports to senior business-unit management • Lead voluntary self-disclosures to government agencies in coordination with GITCO, Legal, and external counsel • Develop and manage additional strategic trade compliance initiatives
• Bachelor’s degree in business, law, or international trade • Minimum of 10 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility in trade compliance • 10+ years of experience in import and export compliance activities at a multinational company • CUSECO, CES, and/or LCB trade-related certifications preferred • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and maintaining trade compliance programs, including training, policies, and guidelines • Knowledge of Incoterms, Export Administration Regulations, ITAR Regulations, Customs Regulations, HTS and ECCN product classification, Free Trade Agreements, country-of-origin determination, international import/export regulations, and anti-corruption • Import or Export Certification or equivalent experience • Hands-on experience with BIS, U.S. Customs, OFAC, and corresponding EU regulatory agencies • Understanding of OFAC and BIS requirements for restricted parties and countries, export licensing, technology review, deemed export licensing, reporting, and documentation • In-depth expertise with the Harmonized Code System, Explanatory Notes, and U.S. Customs classification • Experience maintaining import/export data databases in compliance with U.S. Customs reporting requirements • Experience building departmental and/or cross-functional Trade Controls governance infrastructure • Experience managing multiple projects, processes, or project management • Excellent leadership and management skills managing employees, directly or indirectly • Proven experience identifying, re-engineering, and implementing Global Trade Compliance processes and procedures • Experience with Oracle or SAP highly desired • Advanced degree preferred
