📋 Description

• Independently manage and own discrete privacy verticals, driving projects from issue-spotting through resolution with minimal oversight • Provide practical, business-oriented legal advice on privacy laws applicable to U.S. healthcare organizations, including HIPAA, state privacy and data breach notification laws, and other federal and state requirements • Advise business, product, and engineering teams on artificial intelligence laws, regulations, governance frameworks, and responsible AI practices • Support the internal commercial contracting team with escalated review of privacy-related provisions in vendor agreements, data use agreements, and business associate agreements • Support development and maintenance of privacy policies, procedures, and training materials • Partner with Compliance, Security, IT, and business teams to identify privacy risks and implement risk-based solutions • Monitor developments in privacy and AI law and communicate implications to stakeholders • Support responses to privacy incidents, regulatory inquiries, and audits • Use AI tools thoughtfully and effectively in day-to-day legal work to improve efficiency, quality, and turnaround time • Report to the Privacy Officer and Associate General Counsel

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing • Minimum of 6 years of total legal experience, including at least 2 years at a law firm with substantive privacy or healthcare regulatory work • Prior experience advising healthcare organizations or clients on privacy, regulatory, or compliance matters is required • Working knowledge of HIPAA and other U.S. privacy laws applicable to healthcare entities • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment with limited supervision • Self-starter mindset and willingness to take ownership of projects and privacy verticals • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-lawyers • Comfort and enthusiasm using AI tools, including generative AI and legal research and drafting assistants, in daily legal workflow • Interest in and willingness to advise on AI governance and AI-related legal and regulatory issues intersecting with privacy • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build trust with stakeholders across legal, compliance, product, and business teams • Professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or AIGP are preferred • Familiarity with NIST Privacy Framework and/or NIST AI RMF is preferred • Prior in-house experience, particularly within healthcare or health tech, is preferred
