📋 Description

• Review and prepare summaries of veterans’ claims files, including VA decisions and medical evidence • Analyze VA law and regulations and determine errors of law to compose briefs • Review medical records, applications, and medical development profiles to determine records to solicit • Select and send appropriate disability benefit questionnaires to medical providers • Assist claimants with drafting lay statements • Draft independent medical opinion request letters and case summaries • Identify and send correct VA disability benefit questionnaires • Review claims-agent briefs, providing proofreading and research • Review cases for technical problems and medical eligibility • Research reference material to support case development and documentation • Process work accurately and timely • Document conversations and actions in system notes • Maintain technical knowledge of VA programs and procedures • Review claims for viability and closure • Contact claimants/clients to review and discuss cases • Participate in training sessions and demonstrations • Mentor peers and support staff • Assist with claims-agent functions, including claim status, drafting appeals, and VA forms • Work on special projects

🎯 Requirements

• Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience • Minimum of two years of Veteran's disability claims handling responsibilities and experience • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to learn and apply technical instructions • Professional oral/telephone communication skills • Superior organizational skills • High level of initiative • Excellent knowledge of Word and Excel • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of claimant information and other confidential Allsup information
