📋 Description

• Craft stories about American Forests' Resilient Forests work within broader marketing and communications goals • Identify and vet stories across the Resilient Forests portfolio, especially public-lands work • Develop web content, articles, blog posts, magazine articles, and multimedia storytelling • Create narratives connecting people with large natural landscapes and forest benefits • Serve on Resilient Forests event-planning working groups as communications lead • Coordinate communications coverage for convenings, site visits, launches, and partner activations • Support program publications and presentation materials • Identify, shape, and support press and earned-media opportunities • Produce communications deliverables tied to funding and scopes of work • Support education materials and content showcasing field teams and partners • Track and deliver against communications requirements associated with funding and commitments • Develop core messaging and marketing products for program goals and strategy • Translate complex forestry and restoration work into accessible messaging • Manage external communications contractors, contracts, and deliverables • Report to the Vice President, Communications and collaborate across Communications, Philanthropy, Operations, and Program teams

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in policy communications, forestry, reforestation, wildfire resilience, or natural resource management • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience with increasing responsibility and accomplishments • Communications experience and working knowledge of forestry, natural resources conservation, or a related field • Experience with public land management agencies, Tribal nations, and rural communities • Skilled science communication experience making technical forestry or restoration work accessible • Background in web-based storytelling and photojournalism • Photography, video, or multimedia production skills • Excellent written and verbal communication across web, print, and multimedia formats • Presentation design skills • Ability to translate complex or technical work into compelling narratives for varied audiences • Experience producing communications deliverables for funded programs or defined scopes of work • Experience coordinating events, publications, media, and press opportunities • Experience managing external communications contractors, including videographers and photographers • Strong project management skills managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and details simultaneously • Ability to work remotely from the United States • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods and operate a computer and other office equipment
