• Provide on-call support for urgent operational requirements as needed • Maintain familiarity with sensor capabilities and applications in border security operations • Assist in inventory, deployment, and maintenance of UGS systems in diverse terrains and conditions • Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance, including alignment, inspection, and sensor testing • Provide technical assistance during UGS operations and train team members in system use and maintenance • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions, replace hardware components, troubleshoot software, and verify corrections • Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with operational guidelines • Maintain detailed records of deployments, maintenance, and system performance, and compile data for reports • Manage accountability for hardware, software, and spare parts • Maintain diagnostic and operational tools, support equipment, and test systems • Collaborate with CBP offices, DHS officials, and USBP personnel to align operational objectives and ensure proper reporting • Contribute to development and implementation of new UGS technologies and strategies
• Active CBP BI or TOP SECRET clearance required • U.S. Citizenship required for obtaining or holding a U.S. security clearance • Associate’s degree in electronics, telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent military or law enforcement training • Minimum of 5 years of experience with unattended ground sensors (UGS) or similar technologies • Technical knowledge of seismic, acoustic, infrared, magnetic, and microwave sensors • Understanding of UGS components, including power supplies, communication modules, and sensor elements • Proficiency in sensor collection, processing, and data transmission • Understanding of wireless communication, encryption and security, and AI with image recognition • Knowledge of sensor emplacement, site selection, and concealment • Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, and software tools for data visualization • Knowledge of integrating UGS with other security systems for interoperability • Understanding of geographical and environmental conditions in deployment areas and adaptation techniques • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and safety protocols governing UGS use • Ability to work in challenging and remote environments, including rugged terrain and adverse weather • Physical endurance for lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment over long distances • Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks while maintaining focus and accuracy • Willingness to travel frequently and be deployed for extended periods
