📋 Description

• Manage a portfolio of litigated and non-litigated environmental, toxic tort, and construction defect claims presenting high complexity and exposure across multiple jurisdictions • Build and maintain relationships with agents and policyholders through inclusive, communicative, accessible service and informative file documentation • Investigate and evaluate coverage, liability, and damages throughout the life of claims by analyzing facts, circumstances, developments, applicable law, and legal principles • Develop, adjust, and execute action plans to achieve desired claim resolutions • Identify and pursue early resolution when appropriate • Identify and evaluate risk transfer • Establish and adjust loss reserves based on material information and developments • Report on and present large losses during file conferences and claim reviews • Provide technical oversight and direction and serve as a subject matter expert for high-severity and high-complexity claims • Participate in mediations and settlement conferences and attend trials • Negotiate settlements • Maintain current knowledge of multijurisdictional legal and regulatory claims developments and trends • Engage internal and external resources as needed while monitoring and mitigating costs • Adjudicate claims in accordance with Amerisure claims guidelines and quality standards

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctorate preferred • 10 years of commercial claims experience • 7 years with moderate to high complexity and exposure environmental and toxic tort claims • 5 years handling litigated files and directing outside defense and coverage counsel • Construction defect claims handling experience preferred but not required • Industry accreditation preferred • Extensive knowledge of current contract and coverage laws in multiple jurisdictions • Experience in TX, FL, GA, SC, and AZ • Proven ability to handle claims in new or less familiar jurisdictions • Ability to lead discussions, make presentations, and communicate technical results to a non-technical audience • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function in a changing environment • Willingness to take on new assignments as required • Strategic thinking with analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to deal with ambiguity • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers • Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required • Ability to travel overnight up to 20%
