📋 Description

• Investigate losses, verify coverage, evaluate liability and damages, and determine compensability independently • Engage other parties in negotiations and settle claims according to claims handling guidelines • Submit timely initial reports to the MCCA when claims meet reporting criteria • Complete MCCA status reports accurately and on time • Complete reimbursement requests to the MCCA accurately and on time • Collaborate with accounting to ensure balances align • Review and analyze documents and legal pleadings • Establish and maintain proper reserves reflecting each claim’s financial exposure • Partner with counsel to manage litigated claims • Handle Michigan PIP Life Expectancy claims involving the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association, including litigated matters requiring MCCA settlement authority or approval

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience • 5 years Michigan PIP claims experience with MCCA involvement and experience with reporting and reimbursement requests • AIC or SCLA certification preferred, but not required • Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers • Strategic thinking with supporting analytical skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proven negotiation skills
