• Serve as the customer service liaison between the company and customers • Resolve billing, shipment tracking, and other customer concerns • Build customer relationships • Prepare documents for import customs clearance of client shipments, including PGAs • Trace shipments and reroute freight as needed • Communicate with CBP and various PGAs to resolve routine issues • Prepare and distribute import documents to appropriate parties • Cross-train in additional responsibilities • Open files and enter notes, information, and document requests in corporate systems • Review documentation and issue documents to meet government and carrier regulations • Convert and verify shipment weight, volume, and foreign currency • Send information and document requests to employees, suppliers, service providers, and U.S. government agencies • Communicate with offices, departments, and teams regarding customs brokerage issues • Ensure compliance with U.S. government regulatory agencies, including FDA, EPA, and USFWS • Maintain communication with customers, carriers, and vendors • Coordinate shipments from airlines, ocean piers, and CFS facilities to customer or consignee destinations • Coordinate pickups and invoice files • Stay current on regulations, laws, guidelines, and Deringer requirements • Act as a resource to internal and external clients • Handle accounting processes accurately and timely • Perform additional duties assigned by management
• High school diploma/GED • 2+ years of recent customs brokerage experience • Experience with client submission requirements and clearance of specific commodities • Knowledge of import customs clearance documentation, including bonds, bills, classification/release, reports, and PGAs • Knowledge of import documents including bills of lading, dock receipts, licenses, and consulate documents • Ability to comply with U.S. government regulatory agencies such as FDA, EPA, and USFWS • Ability to handle confidential information • Ability to process accounting accurately and timely • Ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM EST
