📋 Description

• Own delivery of interconnection engineering, SCADA and telemetry systems, and grid infrastructure for thermal energy storage projects across multiple RTOs/ISOs • Manage engineering firms from concept through issued-for-construction design for substations, switchyards, POI configurations, protection and control, metering, grounding, and equipment specifications • Ensure designs incorporate interconnection studies and GIA/LGIA/DIA obligations and resolve changes affecting design, cost, or schedule • Lead utility and transmission owner coordination on facilities and network upgrades • Manage Owner’s Engineer and EPC interfaces, define scope boundaries, coordinate long-lead equipment procurement and negotiations, and oversee construction • Deliver complete packages for construction and commissioning • Write SOWs and manage RFPs, bid evaluation, contracting, purchase orders, invoices, budgets, change management, and closeout • Maintain reusable SOW templates, vendor qualification standards, and bid evaluation criteria • Scope and contract SCADA/telemetry engineering and determine responsibility for detailed SCADA/DCS engineering and programming • Drive novel measurement methods for reportable state of charge and own settlement-quality metering design and validation • Align ICCP configuration and Open Loop/Closed Loop testing with RTO requirements • Own integrated schedules, critical paths, dependencies, milestones, portfolio deliverables, technical assumptions, open issues, and RTO/TO correspondence • Partner with engineering, development, execution, product, operations, commercial, legal, and finance teams • Communicate cost, schedule, and risk to leadership and nontechnical stakeholders and escalate critical-path exposure early

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years managing capital energy or electric infrastructure projects, including generation, storage, substations, or transmission • Direct accountability for vendor scope, budgets, schedules, and change management • Experience designing interconnection configurations, evaluating feasibility, selecting and procuring equipment, and coordinating interconnection/substation engineering with utilities and transmission owners • Ability to identify gaps in one-line diagrams, protection schemes, point lists, interface control documents, and architecture diagrams • Utility-scale generator experience with SCADA, telemetry, protection and control, or substation automation • Working knowledge of interconnection studies, GIA/LGIA obligations, and the scoping, costing, and construction of interconnection facilities and network upgrades • Strong technical writing ability • Ability to independently manage concurrent projects across geographies and counterparties, navigate ambiguity, prioritize competing deadlines, and raise issues early • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, another engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience • Desired: exposure to ICCP, RTU integration, RTO telemetry validation, resource integration or ICCP modeling teams • Desired: experience with synchronous generator telemetry, settlement-quality metering, and co-located, hybrid, or surplus interconnection configurations • Desired: utility, transmission owner, IPP, or developer-side delivery experience
