• Design, develop, test, implement, and analyze technical products and systems using applied engineering principles • Perform engineering design evaluations on weapon systems • Perform dimensional tolerance and functional analyses • Procure, assemble, and test advanced prototypes • Prepare and present designs at design reviews using MS Word and PowerPoint • Produce required design documentation • Assist in developing hardware requirements • Verify and validate designs and demonstrate performance • Perform trade studies for technology development • Analyze data and recommend improvements • Evaluate nominal and off-nominal technical system operations and interactions • Manage multiple issues and develop integrated solutions • Collaborate with fabrication and manufacturing departments • Support development activities to meet project milestones • Mentor junior engineers and cross-train engineers in other fields • Serve as technical leader for advanced mechanical systems and weapon subsystems • Collaborate with modeling and simulation engineers, systems engineers, analysts, test engineers, manufacturing personnel, and program leadership from concept through prototype demonstration and qualification
• U.S. Citizenship required due to sensitivity of customer-related information • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field • At least 10 years of recent and related work experience • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, leadership, and teamwork skills • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD)/drafting equipment and software • Ability to collaborate with peers, cross-functional teams, and external customers • Hands-on familiarity with Department of War components • Experience designing life-critical components for extreme environments using established engineering principles • Experience with qualification and acceptance testing • Active SECRET Clearance and ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and interface requirements • Strong analytical problem-solving skills • Good math and GDT&E skills • Ability to meet deadlines • Excellent communication skills with engineers, program management, and government customers • Ability and willingness to work in an agile development environment • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Ability to clearly communicate, express, and understand complex information
