📋 Description

• Utilize encoder, grouper software, and other coding resources to determine appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, specialty-specific, and Evaluation and Management codes • Apply NCCI, LCD/NCD directives, MUEs, Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, regulatory requirements, and institutional guidelines • Select appropriate codes and modifiers for ophthalmology and multispecialty coding

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent and medical coding education • In lieu of medical coding education, an active coding certification is required • Minimum one year of progressive coding experience • Certification as CPC, COC, CIC, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CRC required • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, specialty-specific codes, and Evaluation and Management (E&M) codes • Knowledge of National Correct Coding Initiatives (NCCI), Local Coverage Documents and National Coverage Documents (LCD/NCD), Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), Medicare Teaching Physician Guidelines, regulatory requirements, and institutional guidelines • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field preferred • Two years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties and HCC Risk Adjustment Coding preferred • RHIT or RHIA preferred
