📋 Description

• Review and interpret inpatient health records to identify diagnoses and procedures affecting the current hospital encounter • Ensure documentation supports assigned diagnoses and procedures • Select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes within established deadlines • Review documentation for medical necessity • Assign working diagnoses and DRGs • Identify expected length of stay and Core Measure cases as applicable • Conduct periodic reviews throughout the patient’s hospitalization • Complete final medical-record review and select appropriate codes within 4 days of patient discharge as assigned • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists II to identify and address documentation deficiencies • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma/GED with one of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA, with two (2) years of coding experience required • Must be self-directed with critical thinking and collaborative abilities • Two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility, in a multi-service/specialty setting • Degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred • Current CCS certification preferred • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment • Subject to pre-employment screening, including criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification
