📋 Description

• Review and interpret inpatient health records to identify diagnoses and procedures impacting the current hospital encounter • Ensure documentation supports assigned diagnoses and procedures • Select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes within established deadlines • Review documentation for medical necessity • Assign working diagnoses and DRGs • Identify expected length of stay and Core Measure cases as applicable • Conduct periodic reviews throughout patient hospitalization • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists II to identify and address documentation deficiencies • Complete final medical record review and select appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes within 4 days of patient discharge • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School diploma/GED with one of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA, with two (2) years of coding experience required • Must be self-directed with critical thinking and collaborative abilities • Two years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility, in a multi-service/specialty setting • Current CCS certification preferred • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment • Criminal Background Check • Education verification may be required
