📋 Description

• Provide senior technical leadership for the design, development, and operation of Availity’s data platform processes and services • Build and operate reliable, secure, and scalable data ingestion, storage, processing, and access processes • Own a member-facing membership application end to end, from detailed design and documentation through development, testing, deployment, and maintenance • Drive architecture and design decisions and translate business and platform requirements into technical designs • Establish engineering standards and mentor other engineers through disciplined execution • Partner with product, application engineering, information management, and analytics teams • Design and develop scalable, maintainable, data-driven systems and processes • Build and maintain high-volume data pipelines and processes • Improve the speed, efficiency, and scalability of the continuous integration environment • Automate processes using Python, SQL, RESTful APIs, and other frameworks • Apply distributed systems and microservices architecture patterns • Consult on database design, write database queries, and modify table definitions • Leverage CI/CD principles using Git, Jira, and AWS • Create standards and document systems • Review code and collaborate with software and data engineers • Coach and mentor junior engineers and provide design guidance • Partner with stakeholders to assess technical feasibility, estimate work, and identify dependencies or slippage • Innovate and share ideas to improve products and processes

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of progressive work experience developing software products in an Agile and/or iterative development environment • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Management • Proven commitment to working in a senior engineer role, including mentoring and design guidance • Direct experience with data modeling and data architecture design • Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies • Strong experience building and maintaining high-volume data pipelines and data processes • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and web services • Proficiency with Scala • Proficiency with Python, including NumPy and Pandas • Proficiency with SQL databases • Proficiency with scripting languages such as SQL, HTML, JavaScript, or Shell • Experience with a data processing framework such as Spark or Flink • AWS or equivalent cloud experience • Experience with automated unit testing and acceptance testing frameworks • Working experience with source code version control, preferably Git and GitHub/GitLab • Working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle • Experience building CI/CD pipelines • Experience practicing Test Driven Development • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS) is a plus • Experience with Terraform is a plus • Knowledge of the healthcare industry is a plus • Healthcare industry experience, particularly with membership, eligibility, or benefits data, is advantageous • Experience owning and evolving core data or platform infrastructure at scale • Experience improving engineering productivity through standards, tooling, and automation • Background in reliability, performance optimization, or large-scale distributed systems • Adherence to engineering best practices • Must be able to use a camera for all virtual meetings • Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment • Must meet United States employment eligibility verification requirements • Sponsorship in any form is not available
