📋 Description

• Lead the afternoons and evenings on Axios's newsdesk • Participate as part of the 24/7 nerve center for the newsroom • Conduct real-time news surveillance • Write quick-turn spot news stories • Edit a wide variety of national news, including breaking stories and occasional enterprise • Monitor developments on key stories and flag them to experts • Edit others' work and write original work

🎯 Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with a team of journalists • Writing and editing experience in a fast-paced news environment • Demonstrated experience monitoring and activating on news • A belief in Smart Brevity as the core writing style of Axios • Experience working across teams to produce quality content • Demonstrated knowledge of the digital and social media landscape • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Willing to work afternoons/evenings (2pm-10pm ET Sunday-Thursday) • Expected to actively develop AI literacy and use AI tools to enhance productivity, creativity, and efficiency
