• Support BlueRock’s ophthalmology clinical trial pipeline as a field-based member of Clinical Development • Provide guidance to investigators, operating-room staff, and clinical staff through in-person operating-room attendance during surgeries • Serve as BlueRock’s primary representative in operating rooms during ophthalmic surgery • Develop, implement, and oversee surgical training programs and materials • Develop quality resources and knowledge-assessment tools for physicians and clinical support staff • Collect and communicate technical surgical information and feedback from clinical investigators • Provide clinical support for hands-on skills development and procedure training • Arrange and execute wet labs, surgical choreography, manual maintenance, training-material development, and presentations • Provide on-site support during surgical procedures • Refine procedure training materials and manuals with internal and external stakeholders to standardize cell delivery • Maintain current knowledge of medical/scientific research and retina-related publications • Build and maintain relationships with KOLs in inherited retinal diseases • Engage HCPs in compliant scientific discussions and disseminate clinical and scientific information • Present at clinical/surgical sites, congresses, symposia, and training events as needed • Create investigator engagement plans supporting recruitment, site identification, and selection • Provide clinical trial liaison support, including protocol support, screening barriers, and recruitment and retention • Create prioritized action plans for clinical-site barriers, document plans, and measure progress with sites • Liaise with internal R&D and Clinical Operations to support principal investigators • Collect medical insights from principal investigators to refine strategies • Conduct daily administration and operations of the role • Provide clinical/scientific expertise to investigators and health professionals • Connect operating-room staff with BlueRock medical experts to resolve questions or safety concerns • Maintain detailed knowledge of cell preparation processes and surgical devices used in clinical trials • Report to the Lead Surgical Science Liaison, Ophthalmology
• Advanced Clinical/Science Degree needed (e.g., MD, OD, PharmD, PhD, MSN, RN, NP, PA) • Minimum of 5 years related work experience in a surgical and/or clinical setting or industry experience • Previous industry-based Surgical/MSL experience preferred • Ophthalmology therapeutic area experience preferred • Demonstrated ophthalmic, preferably retina, surgical procedure experience, including utilization and knowledge of instruments and equipment • Proficiency in GCP, Adverse Event reporting, and ICH • Experience understanding the design and execution of clinical trials • Experience creating and delivering scientific presentations • Basic experience in medical writing and general knowledge of biostatistics • Maintain necessary certifications, hospital vendor credentialing, and non-human primate facility access requirements, including HIPAA Certification, Blood Borne Pathogen Infection Control and Aseptic Technique, Fire Safety, and institutional requirements including up-to-date vaccinations • Able to interact professionally and effectively with customers, physicians, nurses, and other medical staff • Able to work independently from a remote environment • Excellent attention to detail, organizational and time management skills • Computer skills for generating reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal communications • Ability to manage multiple complex and competing objectives and priorities • Learning mindset and openness to training across customer types or therapeutic areas
