• Supervise and coordinate all facets of Professional Billing within the organization • Act as the primary revenue cycle liaison between designated departments, the Professional Billing office, third-party vendors, and stakeholders • Identify opportunities to improve the revenue cycle and assist in resolving issues • Build and maintain collaborative relationships within the organization • Manage revenue cycle projects and drive performance • Represent the Professional Billing Office as a subject matter expert for revenue cycle items • Ensure service levels and KPIs are met and address challenges affecting performance • Collaborate with departments, practices, and third-party billing vendors to improve efficiencies and standardize and optimize processes and systems • Identify and implement process changes and technology updates • Manage standards and systems that improve quality, consistency, efficiency, and timeliness • Design, develop, and monitor performance improvement processes and productivity metrics • Monitor, report, and communicate department-specific trends and overall revenue cycle performance • Prepare, review, and analyze revenue cycle reports to identify trends and issues • Facilitate regular meetings with Administrative Directors and Physician Leaders • Compile and distribute meeting minutes and action items and follow up until resolved • Provide general oversight of third-party billing vendors and maintain relationships with vendor Client Managers • Monitor work queue performance by departments and vendors • Apply professional revenue cycle expertise to increase collections, optimize billing goals, and maintain compliance • Participate in multiple projects while aligning priorities with organizational goals • Conform to hospital performance, conduct, patient rights, customer service, and patient care standards • Adhere to BMC’s RESPECT behavioral standards
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Healthcare related field (or work experience equivalent) • Minimum of 5-7 years related experience required • Experience in an academic medical center managing professional billing functions • 3–5 years Epic system experience preferred • Advanced knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle functions, including coding and billing guidelines and government payer regulations • Must have CPT coding knowledge • Working knowledge of payer reimbursement and rules • Experience in auditing, training and communicating revenue cycle regulations and concepts • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Strong analytical skills • Highly skilled experience and knowledge of Windows-based software, including Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Excel and Access • Proficient skills to collect, organize and analyze data, produce actionable reports and recommend improvements and solutions • Effective oral and written skills • Ability to interpret and implement regulatory standards • Working knowledge of multiple healthcare applications, including Epic • Effective time management skills to handle a large workload • No certificates, licenses, or registrations required
