• Operate and provide education within the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program • Coordinate CPE units and collaborate with chaplains to address spiritual care needs of patients, families, staff, and CPE students • Provide spiritual care and emotional support during illness, crisis, loss, and death • Promote chaplaincy team cohesion and effective relational dynamics • Address CPE student performance issues and disciplinary action plans • Facilitate communication between clinical leadership and the chaplaincy team • Participate in strategic, departmental, and market planning and committee work • Provide CPE unit group seminars and individual sessions • Plan and implement CPE units according to ACPE standards and Catholic ethical directives • Recruit, schedule, and supervise on-site and online CPE programs • Oversee student admissions, orientation, clinical work, assignments, and performance reviews • Establish and lead the Professional Advisory Group • Support accreditation/re-accreditation, curriculum development, program evaluation, financial solvency, and program operations • Oversee CPE program funds and prepare the annual budget • Coordinate clinical placements and make required site visits • Maintain site-specific handbooks • Mentor CPE students collaboratively with staff chaplains • Direct CPE program marketing, advertising, and student recruitment • Maintain accreditation standards and develop CPE across the organization • Provide finance data regarding Medicare reimbursement • Pursue continuing education and maintain chaplain and ACPE certifications • Deliver Chaplain III functions as needed • Perform other assigned duties
• ACPE Certified Educator or Certified Educator Candidate (required) • Documentation of faith community endorsement by official representative(s), reflecting good standing according to the candidate’s faith or spiritual tradition (required) • Master’s degree in Theology or Pastoral Studies (required) • 4 years of progressive experience as a Chaplain (required) • Master’s degree in Divinity (preferred) • Doctoral degree in Theology, Ministry, or Philosophy (preferred) • 1–2 years of experience as a people leader (preferred) • Completion of the Chaplain Leader Program (preferred) • Knowledge of the Ethical and Religious Directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops • Ability to maintain certification in the certifying agency as both a chaplain and ACPE Certified Educator • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to provide pastoral support within patients’ cultures, values, and belief systems • Ability to teach diverse theology and ecclesiology • Ability to lead and coordinate prayer and worship services • Ability to travel by car to off-site locations occasionally • Ability to perform shift work and meet listed physical and environmental requirements
