📋 Description

• Work on water/wastewater projects for municipal and federal clients • Develop innovative, cost-effective designs for new facilities, expansions, upgrades, and retrofits • Lead development of HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler designs • Interpret mechanical, plumbing, building, and fire codes and relevant NFPA standards • Identify and select appropriate equipment • Size ductwork, plumbing, and fire sprinkler distribution systems • Develop and review calculations, drawings, specifications, and engineering reports • Direct BIM professionals to create 3D models or draft and model systems using AutoCAD and Revit • Perform construction-phase submittal reviews • Respond to contractor inquiries • Provide in-person site observations as needed • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines • Provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to less experienced team members • Adapt to and execute additional assignments based on evolving needs

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of building mechanical engineering or related experience • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience • Has achieved or is working towards achieving professional license • Ability to interpret and apply mechanical, plumbing, building, and fire codes • Understanding and correct application of NFPA standards • Proficiency with software tools for drafting and modeling HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems • Experience developing HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler calculations and specifications • Ability to size ductwork, plumbing, and fire sprinkler distribution systems • Ability to review and coordinate drawings and specifications with other engineering disciplines • Ability to work independently and provide guidance to less experienced colleagues • Preferred: 8+ years of building mechanical engineering or related experience • Preferred experience in municipal discipline engineering designs and consulting within the water and wastewater industry • Knowledge of piping and ductwork layout and 3D piping systems • Ability to work with Designers/Drafters in Revit/BIM environment • Experience in HVAC and plumbing piping design • Experience using MathCAD, Excel, AFT Arrow/Fathom • Willingness to achieve multi-state P.E. licensure • Experience coordinating with interdisciplinary teams • Subject to pre-employment background check and drug test
