📋 Description

• Provide Head of Finance responsibilities, including oversight of monthly close, budgeting and forecasting, capital planning, and treasury management • Advise founders and management teams on financial strategy, capital planning, growth, and management fee strategy and execution • Own the finance section of Board meetings, including KPI dashboards and investor updates • Support fundraising and M&A, including round structure, cap table scenarios, investor discussions, term sheets, and diligence activities • Manage the revenue cycle, cash flow planning, vendor spend, controls, growth potential, and audit readiness • Identify opportunities to bring in Burkland's bookkeeping, tax, and HR services • Visit clients in person regularly when possible

🎯 Requirements

• Direct, substantial experience in finance roles at venture-backed startups in the AI and AI-adjacent sectors • Experience with compute cost management, cluster costs, cloud infrastructure, training/inference expenses, and hybrid pricing models • Startup finance experience related to SaaS models and metrics • Significant knowledge and usage of current AI tools, skills and LLMs applied to the Office of the CFO • Experience managing and owning the numbers from a C-suite perspective • Experience with equity and SAFE fundraising, SAFE debt facilities, M&A, and exits • Comfortable operating at board level and working with investors, founders and other stakeholders • At least 7–10 years in finance/operations • Familiarity with QBO, Carta, Rippling, Ramp, Rillet, or similar financial technology platforms • MBA or CPA preferred, not required • Must be available during normal business hours • Must have reliable internet connection • Must be eligible to work in the United States
