📋 Description

• Proactively identify potential investment opportunities through personal networks and knowledge • Screen investment opportunities for fit with the fund’s mandate • Analyze competitive landscapes for potential investments • Work with and oversee junior-level professionals • Support and lead due diligence for potential investments • Develop financial models assessing cash requirements and milestones for potential and portfolio companies • Track portfolio company progress after investment • Support executives with board responsibilities and eventually assume selected board responsibilities • Prepare investment updates and valuations for quarterly and annual reports • Coordinate due diligence processes • Support and lead negotiation of terms for new investments • Contribute to knowledge management and translate project and programmatic data • Track fund deal flow and coordinate weekly team meeting reports and summaries • Compile portfolio company impact data • Provide organizational support as needed

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus a graduate degree or relevant level of experience • 5+ years of work experience with extensive exposure to investing in companies • Experience developing financial models and conducting sensitivity analysis • Investment experience in health, food, co-op, or social entrepreneurship sectors • Experience preparing and negotiating complex transactions, balancing community-based organizations’ programmatic needs with underwriting judgment and risk mitigation • Familiarity with one or more of Capital Impact’s five core geographies • Ability to generate deal flow through personal contacts and experience • Demonstrated interest and experience in impact investing • Board of directors experience as a member or observer • Experience leading due diligence for potential investments • Ability to interact with bankers, investors, and others • Advanced writing, investment summary, investment memo, PowerPoint, word-processing, and spreadsheet skills • Ability to work with little supervision • Ability to work proactively and independently with team members and external stakeholders • Strong communication and presentation skills • Strong attention to detail, analytical, critical-thinking, and organizational skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to take initiative and leverage knowledge and resources to solve problems • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects, assignments, and tight deadlines • Passion for community and economic development, impact investing, and social justice • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Suite; Salesforce experience is a plus • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided
