📋 Description

• Own the platform substrate behind Capital One Shopping’s merchant and advertiser data marts powering Retail Media, advertiser reporting, revenue attribution, and marketing measurement • Set reference architecture, catalog, access policy, GDPR/audit guarantees, and standards for downstream product teams • Build a data mart catalog and query-pattern analysis system covering production mart ownership, SLOs, lineage, PII classification, and audit trails • Extend the Dataset Registration Scanner with Trino-log analysis to identify raw tables needing marts • Complete Hive-to-Iceberg standardization on a high-value merchant/advertiser mart with PII-masking parity, GDPR deletion propagation, and schema-change auditing • Draft and enforce a marts-first access policy across three high-traffic raw schemas using Trino permissions and CloudSentry • Write migration code and dbt models, code catalog lineage and audit capture, author Airflow DAGs, and implement policy-as-code • Coordinate weekly with Sales, BizOps, and Analytics on governance and PII/access decisions • Provide ongoing production support and participate in an on-call rotation for existing and future marts • Own systems through production; operate as an individual contributor with no direct reports

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience • 5+ years building shared data platforms or lakehouse infrastructure • Hands-on experience leading a Hive-to-Iceberg or analogous lakehouse migration at scale on a revenue-attached system • Track record of setting standards adopted by at least three product teams • Experience building or extending a data catalog used across teams • Data-access governance under GDPR/CCPA, SOX, or an equivalent regulated framework • End-to-end ownership of PII classification, deletion propagation, or audit-trail work • Track record of shifting consumers from raw event tables to curated marts • At least one prior role in a regulated data environment • Cross-functional fluency with Sales, BizOps, and Analytics; translating business needs into platform work • Daily Claude Code use, skill authoring, and PR-level deliverables • Bachelor’s Degree • At least 6 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply • At least 1 year of cloud computing experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud • Preferred: Master’s Degree • Preferred: 9+ years with JavaScript, Java, TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go • Preferred: 4+ years with AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, or another cloud service • Preferred: 4+ years with open source frameworks • Preferred: 1+ years of people management experience • Preferred: 2+ years of Agile practices
