📋 Description

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of technical writers; conduct regular 1-on-1s, provide feedback, and support career development • Define the documentation vision, including tool selection, style guides, and information architecture • Bridge Engineering, Product Management, and Support to integrate documentation into the Software Development Life Cycle • Prioritize projects and manage team bandwidth to meet release deadlines while maintaining quality • Create and implement documentation strategy within a cross-functional organization • Review documentation for consistency using standards and style guides • Maintain and improve the Docs-as-Code workflow using Git, Markdown, and CI/CD pipelines • Transform complex technical material into clear, concise documentation for engineers, product managers, architects, and senior leadership • Create technical documentation for APIs, SDKs, and integrations • Translate complex ideas into logical concepts using architectural diagrams and supporting descriptions • Write in a formal technical writing style • Interview subject matter experts to understand architecture and products • Collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, and architects to develop, publish, and maintain customer-focused documentation • Use metrics and data to evaluate content utility, identify review areas, and drive planning and prioritization • Develop content for searchability, SEO, and LLM optimization • Maintain and continuously update documentation content management systems

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience • At least 10 years of experience writing technical documentation for software solutions • At least 4 years of people management experience • At least 3 years of experience with Markdown and Git • At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position • Preferred: 5+ years working with documentation authoring tools such as Hugo, GitBook, and Confluence • Preferred: Experience writing technical documentation for data security software • Preferred: Ability to transform deeply technical content into clear, useful customer-focused materials • Preferred: Ability to collaborate with developers to translate content into understandable documentation • Preferred: Experience writing in an Agile software development process • Preferred: Strong understanding of data management technologies and processes • Preferred: 3+ years of experience with SDLC • Preferred: 3+ years of experience in software development • Preferred: 1+ year of experience in the financial services industry • Preferred: 3+ years working in an Agile environment
