• Review, negotiate, and administer externally funded research grants and contracts • Serve as the primary liaison with external sponsors for sponsored grant agreements, including initial awards and modifications • Set up new awards and process changes to existing awards in Georgetown’s financial system • Support principal investigators in Cluster 4 across departments within Main Campus and the Medical Center • Manage contracting and grant database activities across the sponsored award lifecycle, including award setup, award management, and closeout assistance • Provide leadership, training, and oversight to the Pre-Award Grant Administrator in the cluster • Work closely with the Associate Director, Pre-Award Grant Administrator, cluster staff, JORA roles, and collaborating offices • Ensure awards are complete, accurate, and compliant with sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines • Independently manage deadlines
• Bachelor’s degree • 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in a university or other non-profit grants management role • Knowledge of sponsored research funding mechanisms, including federal agencies (NIH, NSF, DOD, etc.), non-federal government agencies, international entities, industry, foundations, private and non-profit organizations • Expertise with federal funding guidelines, including 2 CFR 200 and FAR • Proficiency with financial systems, accounting, and cost accounting standards as they pertain to grants and contracts management • Budgeting experience in Excel • Demonstrated skill in reviewing and negotiating incoming agreements for sponsored research awards • Experience with outgoing subawards and related compliance requirements • Proficiency with Excel, Adobe Professional, and DocuSign • Flexibility and adaptability to ongoing changes in internal and external policies • Ability to establish clear priorities and multitask in a high-volume setting • Ability to work quickly and effectively under pressure • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills • Ability to function in a fast-paced academic setting • Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment with multiple customers and competing priorities
