📋 Description

• Design and stand up the data warehouse/lakehouse • Build pipelines ingesting data from source systems • Build the centralised data model and dbt transformation layer • Version-control, test, and document data transformations • Build data quality validation, monitoring, and alerting • Implement row-level security for multi-tenant data • Build and maintain the semantic/metrics layer with governed metric definitions • Feed Power BI, in-product reporting, and the AI layer • Build data foundations for AI and intelligence features • Help drive platform and tooling decisions • Set engineering quality standards • Own the design and delivery of major components • Collaborate with the Head of Data Engineering • Mentor as the team expands

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on experience designing, building, and running data pipelines into a cloud warehouse or lakehouse in production • Experience with a modern cloud data platform: Snowflake, Databricks, or similar • Strong SQL and data modelling, including dimensional modelling and slowly changing dimensions • Solid experience with a modern transformation framework such as dbt, Matillion, or PySpark • Experience extracting data from source databases • Strong judgment on data quality and ability to own technical decisions and explain trade-offs • Version control with Git, CI/CD, and a disciplined software development lifecycle (SDLC) • Comfortable as a senior individual contributor, setting standards and mentoring without formal line management • Typically 5+ years in data engineering, with a track record of owning production pipelines and data models end to end • Python for data engineering, pipelines, tooling, and automation • Comfortable using AI coding agents such as Claude Code • Data science grounding in statistical or machine-learning methods • AI/ML data patterns including LLM-ready data, text-to-SQL, and RAG • Semantic/metrics layers such as dbt metrics or Cube.dev • Data governance, GDPR, or anonymisation • SQL Server background • Experience in a SaaS or product company
