📋 Description

• Accurately code hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient, and/or professional fee encounters • Apply ICD-10, ICD-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding systems • Review clinical encounters using Carle electronic medical record systems • Provide interdepartmental coding assistance • Develop compliant coding processes using CMS publications, Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and other reference materials • Optimize revenue while maintaining compliance through auditing, monitoring, training, charge facilitation, claim scrubber activities, and billing research • Serve as an expert coding resource for internal and external parties • Liaise with coding and billing staff to ensure accurate charge capture • Report documentation and coding improvement needs • Perform provider and peer coding audits • Monitor internal controls for coding and billing • Facilitate external audit activities and report them to administrative personnel

🎯 Requirements

• Certification as one of: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-Based (CCS-P), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) • Certification from AAPC or AHIMA as applicable • Maintain coding certification, knowledge, and skills • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers • Knowledge of regulatory coding guidelines, including National and Local Coverage Determinations • Ability to use coding software, computer-assisted coding, encoders, and electronic medical record systems • Ability to perform coding audits and monitor internal controls • Ability to facilitate external audit activities and reporting • Full-time availability for day shift
