📋 Description

• Review waste characterization profile information and applicable analytical data for accuracy • Determine whether waste is acceptable at proposed disposal facilities based on regulations, facility permits, and management methods • Protect disposal facilities’ environmental integrity and ensure regulatory compliance • Enforce corporate special waste acceptance policies • Develop understanding of special waste departmental processes and procedures • Communicate with customers to understand issues and address questions or concerns • Review special waste documents and laboratory reports against regulations and landfill permits • Respond to customer calls and emails • Collaborate with the Special Waste team to collect customer information and assess disposal options • Prepare approval communications across the company • Communicate waste acceptance needs or risks with sales, landfill operations, and environmental staff • Develop guidelines for specific waste streams • Issue waste approvals according to best practices, policies, and procedures • Maintain accurate database information and provide research, reports, and statistical analyses • Identify opportunities to streamline special waste process tools and develop implementation plans • Participate in training and learning opportunities

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or another related degree • 1-4 years of work experience in solid waste or a related environmental industry • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment • Valid driver’s license • Ability to travel among company regional offices throughout the Northeast • Strong commitment to workplace safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance • Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations • High attention to detail • Organizational, listening, communication, and problem-solving skills • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications • Advanced Degree or certificate, Professional Engineering (PE) License, or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)/Engineer-in-training (EIT) certification preferred
