• Work with the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health’s Healthcare Associated Infection Program • Perform gap assessments on hemodialysis clinics’ healthcare-associated infection data in Nevada • Develop training tools • Perform data analysis on hemodialysis clinic healthcare-associated infection data • Use NHSN data, survey data, and facility characteristics to identify outpatient hemodialysis facilities for Infection Prevention Assessments and Response (ICAR) • Perform statewide surveillance and analyze aggregate NHSN data on healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance to monitor trends and identify emerging regional outbreaks • Assist local healthcare facilities with NHSN enrollment, training, and compliance with state- or CMS-mandated reporting requirements • Conduct outbreak investigations, including COVID-19 and other infectious diseases, within state-licensed healthcare facilities • Establish and maintain relationships with CMS-funded End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Network • Improve infection prevention and control capacity in outpatient hemodialysis facilities through education, prevention-practice improvements, surveillance, outbreak reporting, and monitoring • Participate actively in CDC’s Making Dialysis Safer for Patients Coalition • Perform landscape analysis of outpatient dialysis service locations, focusing on home dialysis, including dialysis in nursing homes • Participate in the outbreak team through management of healthcare-facility outbreaks • Travel throughout Nevada as required • Adapt responsibilities as public-health priorities and program needs evolve
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, health science, behavioral science, or a closely related field applicable to the program area, and two years of public health related experience, including at least two specified public-health activity areas; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience • Experience using CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) as an Administrator • 2-year minimum experience working with hemodialysis facilities and patients • Certification in Infection Control recommended but not required • Nevada residency preferred • Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residence • Must self-report motor vehicle violations/convictions • Must provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage under the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy • Must meet all minimum qualifications of the Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy
