📋 Description

• Provide substantive legal services to clients while maintaining positive, confidential client relationships through effective consultation and communication • Primarily support the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute (HVTI) as research activities, global collaborations, and regulatory requirements expand • Improve contract turnaround times and maintain competitiveness for high-value clinical trials • Reduce reliance on outside counsel and ensure timely patient access to innovative treatments • Work independently or under senior attorneys’ guidance on legal matters across the organization • Review research agreements, including clinical trial, collaboration, research service, data use, and grant agreements • Provide regulatory support for related issues • Maintain expertise and advise department members regarding legal developments • Seek opportunities to maintain compliance • Respond timely to requests for legal advice • Identify and implement measures to deliver effective legal services • Collaborate and provide leadership on Law Department and organizational projects and teams • Serve as dedicated attorney supporting HVTI, focusing on research and clinical trial agreements • Review approximately 200–400 contracts per year • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school • Two to five years of attorney and/or comparable direct experience in a legal specialty • Individuals with more or less relevant experience in research contracting are encouraged to apply • Member in good standing of the state bar or ability to become a member of the state bar within a reasonable period of time • Exercise independent judgment and discretion to perform legal services • Primary experience reviewing contracts, such as research, general, or supply chain contracts • Ability to take appropriate action in a stressful environment • Experience reviewing clinical research agreements preferred • Regulatory experience, including exposure to HIPAA, GDPR, and similar data privacy regulations preferred • General knowledge or experience related to FDA regulations preferred • Prior involvement or understanding of human subject research and IRB processes preferred • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods • Ability to travel throughout the hospital system • Ability to operate a computer, audiovisual, and other office equipment • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information, including delivering training in person and virtually • Must reside in Ohio or Florida • Must comply with the influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or an approved exemption
