• Preserve and improve the quality and validity of AP Physics exams, curriculum, and professional development content • Lead item development and management from authoring through administration across multiple course titles • Train and collaborate with subject-matter experts, including college professors and secondary school teachers • Integrate AI technologies ethically and effectively into assessment creation and review • Train SMEs on assessment development protocols • Translate between academics and psychometricians • Develop formative assessment materials and resources for AP Physics teachers worldwide • Serve as a point of contact for subject-matter expert committees and communities • Provide final approval and program sign-off on AP Physics test items and forms • Lead authoring, revision, review, and management of formative and summative assessment content and scoring materials • Lead development of AP Physics assessment forms aligned with approved curricula and test specifications • Lead face-to-face, weekend, and virtual Test Development Committee meetings • Train and supervise Test Development Committee members • Lead AP Reading student-response scoring events and produce related publications • Contribute to assessment research and best practices • Lead cross-subject assessment workstreams and provide expert consultation • Mentor Course Experts and team members • Improve item-development task models, processes, exam design, and use of generative AI • Monitor validity, security, reliability, fairness, and quality of AP Physics exams • Collaborate with psychometrics staff to establish fair, reliable, and valid cut scores • Refine the AP Physics Course Framework • Support development and market testing of new AP Physics products
• Master’s degree in Physics or a directly related discipline (required) • Knowledge of current trends in Physics • At least 10 years of experience in standardized assessment development or related work • Expertise in Physics • Experience with digital assessment and teaching preferred • Strong oral and written communication skills • Solid technical proficiency • Customer-focused mindset • Excellent organizational and planning skills • Close attention to detail, including proofreading • Ability to implement processes and procedures • Ability to manage project plans and schedules • Ability to maintain tracking documentation • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills • Ability to work effectively across all levels • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback • Ability to travel 6–8 times per year, plus up to two additional weeks for the AP Reading • Must be eligible and authorized to work in the United States • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and AI-driven solutions • Willingness to learn and apply new digital tools independently • Commitment to growth, iterative learning, and incorporating user input • Ability to make data-informed decisions and solve complex problems • Collaborative and empathetic approach
