📋 Description

• Lead a function and/or collection of teams within CSI's data engineering organization • Design, deliver, and continuously improve secure, scalable, well-governed data platforms and pipelines across banking and fintech solutions • Execute the data platform technology vision and organizational plans • Establish short- and long-term goals, standards, and processes aligned with product, analytics, and AI strategies • Lead engineering managers and direct data engineers, data architects, quality engineers, and other contributors • Own the quality of data pipelines, warehouses, and platforms • Direct Snowflake architecture, performance, warehouse sizing, workload management, and credit optimization • Standardize data engineering practices including data modeling, pipeline testing, dbt transformations, documentation, and platform performance reporting • Review and approve platform releases, schema changes, and deployment plans • Lead root cause analysis for significant data quality incidents and pipeline failures • Own and mature data governance, classification, lineage, cataloging, and retention practices • Serve as a primary contact for internal and external audits and manage evidence collection • Partner with Compliance, Risk, Legal, Security, vendor management, infrastructure, operations, product, analytics, data science/AI, QA, and network teams • Implement role-based access control and least-privilege principles • Lead data quality monitoring, issue remediation, and metadata management programs • Establish dashboards and KPIs for departmental priorities, reliability, data quality, and goal achievement • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, Snowflake spend, headcount planning, staffing, and workload balance • Lead, mentor, and evaluate managers through 1:1s, goal setting, coaching, and performance reviews • Participate in interviews and hiring decisions • Build high-performing teams and recruit, develop, and retain data engineering talent • Oversee access controls, audit trails, vendor risk, contract review, cost control, SOC 2, and compliance efforts

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience • 10+ years of relevant experience in data engineering or software engineering • Strong technical background as an individual contributor on data platforms • Proven, hands-on experience with Snowflake, including architecture, performance tuning, security model, and cost/credit management • Experience managing managers and leading multi-layered data engineering teams in a complex environment • Expertise in data governance, data classification, and metadata management practices across large teams • Direct experience supporting internal and external audit engagements, including evidence collection, control testing, and remediation • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies • Success recruiting, developing, and retaining high-quality data engineering teams • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; comfortable operating with ambiguity • Experience in banking, fintech, or financial services, including regulated data environments (preferred) • Experience with the modern data stack and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (preferred) • Experience with data catalog and lineage tooling and classification/tagging frameworks (preferred) • Familiarity with GLBA, HMDA, SOC 2, or similar regulatory frameworks (preferred) • Deep experience with Atlassian Jira or Azure DevOps (preferred) • Experience driving change across a complex, global engineering organization (preferred) • Familiarity with vendor management and security or RFP response processes (preferred) • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
