• Oversee and manage all vessel-related activities and overall Marine Transportation operations • Act as project manager from bid award through completion, coordinating with customers, crews, agents, and vendors • Create voyage plans, project submittals, and ENOA/Ds • Maintain awareness of the fleet’s status and develop detailed knowledge of equipment and operations • Respond to operational emergencies or “fire drills” • Create and maintain short- and long-term project schedules • Manage vessel crews and strategically create crew schedules in compliance with USCG COIs • Track credentials and mentor crews on licensing and career paths • Conduct crew performance evaluations • Maintain fleetwide compliance with regulatory bodies, Curtin’s SMS, and company standards • Assist with shipboard equipment maintenance and compliance, including fire systems, extinguishers, pyrotechnics, and lifesaving equipment • Assist with vessel certificates, loadlines, COIs, audits, and corrective actions • Support and participate in company training programs, including drafting content and leading training seminars • Maintain the Vessel Management System and Helm Connect • Ensure crew participation and accuracy in VMS submittals • Maintain accurate and relevant templates • Review and approve fleet-related requisitions • Assist with crew recruiting, resume reviews, interviews, and onboarding • Ensure PPE is issued as needed
• Greater than 5 years of experience sailing as a Master or Mate • Graduation from a Maritime Academy as a licensed officer can substitute 2 years of the experience requirement • Preferred: minimum 10 years sailing as a tugboat captain with ocean towing and/or salvage experience • Preferred: experience conducting marine-related projects in a critical role • TWIC Card or ability to obtain one • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record • ISM knowledge preferred • Ability to prioritize requests efficiently • Strong communication skills • Multitasking ability • Organizational skills • Ability to work under deadline pressure • Attention to detail • Time management skills • Ability to use stairs regularly • Able to travel and be away from home for extended periods • Willingness and ability to work on projects involving remote operations for extended periods
