📋 Description

• Maintain the Tumor Registry • Perform case finding by reviewing provisional pathology logs, death certificates, and diagnostic indices • Maintain case files with information retrieved through case-finding reviews • Abstract and code required information in the ERS/Oncolog system • Perform patient follow-up using imaging, SSI death index, and Vital Records • Send monthly patient and physician letters • Submit monthly case transfers to the State Registry • Submit weekly production logs with production statistics • Coordinate Tumor Conference and Cancer Committee activities • Gather positive cases and retrieve pathology and cytology information • Document patient social information, diagnosis, presenter, and case details • Prepare, copy, and distribute conference agendas • Clear abstract errors monthly in ERS/Oncolog • Submit abstracts to the state and produce statistical reports • Assist providers with research data through Denver Health’s data warehouse • Provide medical records and respond to requests in a timely manner • Identify request details and retrieve relevant Tumor Registry information • Promote positive relationships with employees, physicians, patients, and visitors • Maintain patient confidentiality and a secure environment • Adhere to Denver Health’s mission, values, and attendance guidelines

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required • Typically two years of experience in a Cancer Registry field, specifically with data collection required • One year of medical coding experience preferred • CTR or ODS-c certification through NCRA required • Knowledge of Tumor Registry laws, regulations and procedures • Participate in training workshops, department and section meetings • Maintain current CE hours in order to maintain CTR or ODS-c • Good computer keyboarding skills • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and email and calendar functions • Good oral and written communication skills • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and meet deadlines • Ability to read and interpret coding guidelines and make coding decisions • Knowledge of researching coding-related topics and issues • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment • All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test after a conditional offer
