📋 Description

• Performs telephone triage under demanding, stressful, and repetitious conditions • Collects patient/caller data and makes assessments • Develops working diagnoses and determines interventions and dispositions according to guidelines • Guides patients/callers in evaluating symptoms, treatment effectiveness, and when to call back • Documents symptoms, complaints, nursing assessments, advice, and patient/caller responses • Performs initial assessments for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patients • Differentiates normal from abnormal findings and identifies potential problems • Provides patient/caller education and assesses learning needs • Assesses signs of abuse and makes appropriate referrals • Reviews medications, drug dosages, allergies, health history, and immunization status • Monitors call-queue safety as assigned team leader and acts as liaison for staffing or interdisciplinary issues • Serves as a resource for other staff and provides feedback to supervisors • Selects appropriate guidelines and advises patient/caller disposition • Performs quality improvement, documentation, and audio audits • Adjusts dispositions using nursing judgment based on unique patient/caller situations • Collects data and supports process and operational improvements • Integrates quality assurance findings and new knowledge into practice

🎯 Requirements

• Associate's Degree required • Two years of recent nursing experience required • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required • RN-Registered Nurse license from DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) required • Provides age-appropriate triage and treatment dispositions to callers from newborn to adult, including OB and Worker's Compensation Injury Reporting • Utilizes computer software and associated programs to triage and send reports to appropriate agencies or clinics • Uses nursing judgment with computer software to reach appropriate dispositions and care advice • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations • Ability to apply nursing principles, practices, and techniques • Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment • Ability to use computers and computer systems • Computer skills required • Bilingual skills preferred
